does amla juice cause acidity - #24195

Sai

I am really confused about amla juice right now. Last month, I started drinking amla juice every morning because I heard it’s super good for the immune system. At first, I felt great, but then I began noticing this weird discomfort in my stomach. It kinda feels like that burning sensation just below my ribs, you know? I thought maybe I was just eating too much spicy food or something, but as the weeks went on, it got worse. A couple days ago, I even had this legit acid taste in my mouth after drinking my amla juice! That’s when I started wondering, does amla juice cause acidity? I mean, I thought it was supposed to be healthy! Did I drink too much too quickly? And isn't amla supposed to help with digestion or something? Now I'm not sure if I should keep going with it or if I need to cut it altogether. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Should I just switch to, like, amla capsules or something? Any advice would be super helpful because I don’t want to give up on something I thought would be good for me.

Amla juice can indeed have health benefits, as it’s rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, which may boost the immune system and aid digestion. However, it’s also quite acidic due to its high ascorbic acid content, which can potentially lead to stomach discomfort and symptoms similar to acid reflux in some individuals. The burning sensation and acid taste you are experiencing could be signs of increased gastric acidity triggered by the amla juice. While amla is traditionally known to aid digestion, this does not mean it suits everyone’s stomach, especially in concentrated forms like juice.

Moderation is key when consuming any health supplement. You might want to consider reducing the amount of amla juice you’re consuming to see if that alleviates your symptoms. Drinking it diluted with water or having it with meals rather than on an empty stomach could also help minimize stomach irritation. If the symptoms persist despite these adjustments, it may be best to stop consumption and observe if there’s improvement.

Switching to amla capsules might be an alternative to consider, as these could have a milder effect on the stomach. However, you should still start with a low dose to ensure it doesn’t trigger similar symptoms.

If your discomfort continues or worsens, seeking medical advice would be prudent to rule out any underlying conditions that might be exacerbating your symptoms, like GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease) or gastritis. Understanding any personal sensitivities and balancing them with dietary habits is essential for maintaining digestive health.
