benefits of eating curd - #27100

Muhammad

I am really strugling to understand the benefits of eating curd. Last month, I started feeling really bloated and just kinda sluggish all the time. My friend sugguested curd might help, saying it’s good for digestion and gut health! I’m not exactly one for dairy, but I thought I’d give it a try. Funny enough, whenever I eat curd, I feel a bit lighter, but then I tend to get this weird heavy feeling after. Like, am I even doing it right? I’ve been adding curd to my smoothies, which is a whole new thing for me. Some say it has probiotics that can help with stomach issues, but then I read mixed reviews on whether curd causes lactose problems for some people. Should I be looking at the benefits of eating curd as a daily part of my diet or just stick to small amounts? And is there a best time to eat curd for the most benefits? I guess I just want to know if I’m on the right track or if this is one of those things that’s more hype than real help. Any advice on how to incorporate curd into meals would be amazing too! Thanks!

Curd, also known as yogurt, does indeed have several digestive benefits due to its probiotic content. These live bacteria can help maintain a healthy balance in your gut microbiome, which is essential for digestion and may help alleviate bloating and sluggishness. It seems you’ve already noticed some benefits from incorporating curd into your diet, which is a good indication that your body might be responding positively. Your friend is right—curd typically aids in digestion and might offer some relief from bloating for many people, mainly due to its ability to improve gut flora. However, the heavy feeling you mentioned could be linked to your body’s response to lactose, although curd is generally better tolerated than other dairy products like milk due to its lower lactose content. For those with lactose intolerance, there are lactose-free or low-lactose yogurt options available. It could be worth trying those to see if it eases the heavy sensation. As for the timing and amount, there’s no universal rule, but moderation is key. Including curd in your daily diet can be beneficial, yet it’s essential to listen to your body and adjust according to how you feel. Some find it advantageous to consume curd on an empty stomach or in the morning; however, enjoying it as part of a balanced meal is perfectly fine as well. Adding curd to smoothies is a great idea, and you can also mix it with fruits, use it as a salad dressing base, or eat it plain. Just pay attention to your individual reaction since everyone’s digestive system is distinct. Consider starting with small quantities to see how you tolerate it. If the heaviness persists, it might be worth discussing with a healthcare professional who can explore possible underlying dietary sensitivities or other digestive issues.
