will curd increase weight - #27609

Shlok

I am really curious about something that’s been bothering me. I love eating curd, like seriously it's a staple in my diet, but I started wondering, will curd increase weight? I've always heard mixed opinions from friends and family. Some say it's super healthy and great for digestion, while others warn me not to overdo it because of the calories. Lately, I've been trying to lose a bit of weight after this holiday season, when I might’ve had one too many slices of cake! I even paid attention to how much curd I’ve been having, but now I'm second-guessing. Did I mess it up? A few days ago, I had a pretty hefty bowl of curd with my meals. I exercise regularly, but I still feel like my tummy isn’t budging. I keep wondering if that bowl of curd is partly to blame. Like, will curd increase weight if I eat it every day? Is there a certain amount that's safe, or should I be looking at alternatives? Any advice would be super helpful as I navigate this!

Curd itself is not inherently fattening and can be part of a healthy diet, even if you’re trying to lose weight. It’s a good source of protein, calcium, and probiotics, all of which have their benefits. The protein content can help you feel fuller, which may keep you from over-eating other, more calorific foods. Calcium has been associated with better weight management in some studies, and the probiotics aid in digestion and gut health. However, it’s important to keep in mind the total calorie intake you’re aiming for, based on your energy expenditure. While curd can fit into a weight-loss plan, consuming it in large quantities or along with other high-calorie ingredients, like sugar or cream, could contribute to weight gain. Moderation is key; a portion of about 1-2 cups a day is often considered reasonable, yet this can vary based on your total diet and activity level. Also, it’s worth considering the type of curd you consume. Full-fat curd has more calories compared to low-fat or fat-free versions—so if calorie content is a concern, you may want to opt for lower-fat it options. Regular exercise coupled with a balanced diet, including foods like curd, should help you towards your goals. If you remain concerned about your weight or how curd specifically fits in your diet, consulting a nutritionist can provide tailored advice. Remember, consistency and listening to your body are essential while navigating weight management.
