curd will increase weight - #27853

Anya

I am really confused about something and need some help. A few months ago, I started a healthy eating plan, and I cut out a lot of stuff, focusing on things I thought were good for me. One thing I included a lot of was curd because I heard it's great for digestion and all. But, I've recently read that curd will increase weight and that’s seriously worrying me! I mean, I’ve been having it almost daily, especially in smoothies or just plain with fruits. I thought it was a good source of protein and calcium, but now I’m hearing that curd will increase weight if you eat too much of it. I was under the impression that it’s low-calorie, but my jeans feel tighter and I don't know if it could be because of all the curd I’ve consumed. Can someone please explain how curd will increase weight? Like, does it really add calories over time or something? I mean, I really don’t want to ditch it completely but what if it’s gonna mess up all my hard work? Is there a limit on how much curd I should eat, or could I still enjoy it without worry? Ugh, this is so frustrating!

Curd, like many foods, can certainly have a place in a healthy eating plan, but it’s important to consider a few factors when thinking about weight management. Curd is indeed nutritious, providing a good source of protein, calcium, and probiotics, which can support digestive health. However, whether curd will contribute to weight gain largely depends on the overall context of your diet and lifestyle. Consuming anything in excess, including curd, can add additional calories to your daily intake, potentially leading to weight gain, especially if your total calorie consumption exceeds what you burn through daily activity and exercise. It’s crucial to be mindful of portion sizes. For an adult, incorporating about one to two servings of curd a day—approximately half a cup per serving—can be a reasonable amount, aligning with dietary recommendations for dairy intake. If you’re using full-fat curd or adding sugary toppings like honey or sweetened fruit, that could increase the calorie content and contribute to weight gain as well. Switching to low-fat or unsweetened versions might be beneficial if you’re concerned about calorie intake, while still allowing you to enjoy the benefits of curd. Balancing curd consumption with other low-calorie, nutrient-dense foods and maintaining an active lifestyle can help manage weight effectively. If you’re noticing unintended weight gain despite these considerations, it may be helpful to review your total dietary habits with a nutritionist or healthcare provider who can offer personalized advice. They can help identify any other potential dietary adjustments or lifestyle modifications that could be relevant to achieving your health goals and provide insights on maintaining a balanced intake to support overall well-being.
