is sattu good source of protein - #24345

Pihu

I am really confused about something and hope someone can help me. A few weeks ago, I read that is sattu good source of protein and since I’ve been trying to up my protein intake for my workouts, I thought it might be a great addition. But now I’m not sure. I started adding sattu to my smoothies and even made some sattu pancakes. At first, I just loved the taste, but then I started thinking, is sattu good source of protein? Like, I know it's made from roasted chickpeas and might have some benefits, but how much protein is actually in it compared to other sources? I read different things online. Some say it’s a superfood and others say it’s okay but not the best. I’m just worried that while I’m making these healthier choices, I might not be getting enough protein, especially since I’m hitting the gym regularly. I did some tests and my protein levels were kinda low, so definitely need to figure this out. Ugh, I just want to know, is sattu good source of protein or should I look for other options?

Sattu can indeed be a good source of protein, particularly for those following a vegetarian diet. Made from roasted chickpeas or sometimes a combination of grains and pulses, it usually contains about 20 grams of protein per 100 grams. This makes it a decent protein source, but it’s not exceedingly high compared to other options like chicken, fish, or lentils. For someone who is working out and looking to build muscle, it can be a tasty and nutritious addition to your diet, especially in moderation. However, relying solely on sattu might not meet all your protein needs. To achieve a balanced and sufficient protein intake, pair sattu with other protein-rich foods like tofu, paneer, lentils, eggs, or even protein supplements if needed. Also, the amino acid profile of sattu isn’t complete, so it should be consumed alongside other plant-based or animal proteins to ensure you get all essential amino acids. If your protein levels are low, as indicated by your tests, it’s crucial to ensure your overall diet has variety, capturing all essential nutrients and proteins. Remember to distribute your protein intake throughout the day, not just in one meal. Since you’re regularly at the gym, you might need more protein than a sedentary person, so consider consulting a nutritionist to tailor your diet accordingly. They can provide you a personalized plan based on your workout routine, dietary preferences, and health goals.
