Doctors’ responses

Regarding premature ejaculation, it’s a common issue affecting many men at some point. While it can be distressing, there are several strategies you can employ. Behavioral techniques like the pause-squeeze method can be helpful. These involve stopping sexual stimulation when you are nearing ejaculation, squeezing the penis to reduce arousal, and then resuming intercourse. Gradually, this can help increase ejaculatory control. In terms of medications, some doctors prescribe selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) off-label, which can help delay ejaculation. Topical anesthetic creams that reduce sensation can also be considered.

For your wife’s experience of pain during intercourse, known as dyspareunia, it’s crucial to investigate possible causes. This discomfort can stem from conditions such as vaginal dryness, infections, or other underlying issues. Gently encouraging her to visit a healthcare provider might help in identifying and addressing the root cause of the pain. Using water-based lubricants could provide temporary relief from dryness during intercourse.

The consistency of your semen being jelly-like can occasionally be normal as semen can vary due to factors like frequency of ejaculation and hydration levels. If this is new or concerning, or if you’re experiencing discharge or discomfort, consider consulting a healthcare provider.

Nightfall or nocturnal emissions are common and generally not a cause for concern. It indicates a natural release of built-up semen and can happen more frequently at your age due to hormonal levels and frequency of intercourse or ejaculation. If it is affecting your sleep or daily function, it may be worth mentioning to your doctor.

For all these concerns, it would be quite beneficial to have a comprehensive check-up with your healthcare provider. They can address these issues with a more personalized approach and recommend appropriate treatments based on examination and possibly some tests. It’s essential not to ignore these signs as they might have underlying causes needing medical attention.
