how long does brahmi take to work

Aryan

I am really curious about how long does brahmi take to work? I've been dealing with pretty intense anxiety and my friend recommended brahmi as a natural remedy. I started taking it about two weeks ago but honestly, I'm not sure I'm feeling a difference. I mean, the first couple of days I thought I felt a bit calmer, but then it sort of faded away. It got me wondering, how long does brahmi take to work? Is it normal to not feel much change after two weeks? I remember reading somewhere that some herbal supplements take time to build up in your system, but like, how long should I realistically expect brahmi to take for me to notice any real effects? Also, I've read other things saying it should work quicker? Could it be that I'm not taking enough or maybe it doesn't suit me? Ugh, I'm a bit frustrated honestly and just want some clarity on how long does brahmi take to work vs what others experience. Are there signs I should be looking for for when it might kick in? Thanks for any help!

Doctors' responses

Brahmi, also known as Bacopa monnieri, is an herbal supplement that’s often used to support mental clarity, focus, and to alleviate anxiety. The timeline for noticing its effects can indeed vary from person to person. Typically, it’s not uncommon for the benefits of brahmi to take a few weeks to manifest. Although some users report feeling effects within the first couple of weeks, others might not notice significant changes until they’ve been using it consistently for about 6 to 8 weeks. It’s possible that the initial calmness you felt was a placebo effect or an early temporary response; however, sustained improvements generally require continued use over several weeks.

Dosage may be another factor contributing to the effects you’re experiencing. It’s important to ensure you’re taking an adequate amount according to the guidelines that come with the supplement or as directed by a healthcare provider. Often, recommended dosages range between 300 mg to 450 mg per day of a standardized extract. If you’re below this range, it might not be sufficient to produce desired effects.

However, it’s important to keep in mind individual differences in response—what works for one person may not work for another. Also, supplements can interact with medications or existing conditions, so it’s wise to consult with a healthcare provider before continuing with it, especially if you’re having doubts or are already on other anxiety treatments. If there’s still no noticeable change after a longer trial or if you’re experiencing unwanted side effects, discussing alternatives with a healthcare provider might be worthwhile. While brahmi is generally considered safe, unresolved anxiety may be of a nature that might benefit more from conventional treatments, counseling, or other interventions. Remember, herbal supplements aren’t a one-size-fits-all solution and professional guidance can help to tailor the best approach for your needs.
