how to eat soya chunks after workout - #27858

Vihaan

I am really confused about how to eat soya chunks after workout. I recently started working out pretty seriously and, honestly, I'm trying to figure out my post-workout nutrition. I heard that soya chunks are high in protein, which is great, but I don't really know how to eat soya chunks after workout. Like, do I need to cook them a certain way, or can I just toss them in a salad? I tried adding them to my stir-fry, but it felt a bit weird, kind of chewy and bland. I’m also worried about whether eating soya chunks will be heavy on my stomach right after I finish working out. I’m just unsure if I should make them into a curry or mix them with something else. And like, when is the best time to eat them? Immediately after my workout or later on? If I can’t figure out how to eat soya chunks after workout, I might just give up trying to include them! Any of you guys have tips or recipe ideas that worked for you? Really need some help here!

Doctors' responses

To eat soya chunks after a workout, you’re actually on the right track considering their high protein content, which is great for muscle recovery. First off, it’s essential to properly hydrate the soya chunks by boiling them in water for about 5-10 minutes. This softens them and eliminates that chewy texture. You can then drain and rinse them under cold water. Since they’re quite bland by nature, consider marinating them with spices, herbs, or soy sauce once boiled to infuse some flavor. Mixing them into salads or incorporating them into a curry can work well, adding a good dose of protein without being too heavy. If you find them bland in a stir-fry, try sautéing them with garlic, ginger, or your favorite seasoning to enhance the taste. Consuming soya chunks doesn’t necessarily have to be immediately post-workout. You could have them as part of your meal within an hour or two after exercising, allowing your muscles to absorb protein efficiently. Pairing them with carbohydrates like brown rice or quinoa can make a balanced, satisfying meal. If digestion is a concern, make sure to properly chew the boiled chunks, and avoid eating too many at once initially until your body adjusts. Everyone’s digestive system responds differently, so pay attention to how your stomach feels and adjust accordingly. Experiment with adding them to various dishes until you find what suits your taste best.
